Jakob Schrenck von Notzing (1539-1614) was a Bavarian nobleman and historian in the Austrian service of Duke Ferdinand II of Tyrol, who commissioned Schrenck von Notzing to create a picture book of his collection of armor. The Augburg engraver Dominicus Custos made the illustrations based on designs by Giovanni Battista Fontana.
