Adriaen Van Ostade (1610-1685) Dutch Golden Age painter, was a pupil of portrait painter Frans Hals and later very influenced by Rembrandt. In addition to painting a work in the Louvre interior in 1642, Van Ostade’s work is remarkable for his ability to capture the poetic side of the peasant class.
