Christian Friedrich Leberecht Strack (1784-1852) German theologist, naturalist, pedagogue,  and writer started his career in Bremen then moved to Düsseldorf.  He is best known for the illustrated natural history book Naturgeschichte in Bildern mit erlauterdem (Illustrations of natural history with explanations). The illustrator of the works is unknown. Vol I, 1819, Mammals; Vol II, 1820, Birds;  Vol III, 1820, Amphibians; Vol IV, 1826, Fish. Hand-colored early lithographs printed on Whatman laid paper with some sheets bearing the J Whatman watermark. Paper tones range from light to dark creamy color, some folios/pages possess a zinc cast.
