Alberto Giacometti (October 10, 1901 – January 11, 1966) was a Swiss sculptor, painter, draftsman and printmaker who lived and worked mainly in Paris. He was one of the most important sculptors of the 20th century, and was greatly influenced by Cubism and Surrealism. Giacometti’s work is displayed in numerous public collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Museum of Modern Art in New York, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC and the Tate London.
